Hi! Hello! Welcome to the March Spool! Sensational Sewing's monthly letter to bring you the news of all things sewing!
We hope everyone has had a lovely Easter break and are feeling refreshed and relaxed! Our apologies for not releasing a newsletter for February; things got a bit hectic that month!
With March done and dusted, writing this has proved to be a bit of a wake up into how quickly time is flying this year!
March has been almost as busy as February this year! We participated in our first ever Glennie Fair as a stallholder and had a fun filled day. Our term sewing classes remained busy and always a joy while our holiday sewing classes were entertaining and relaxing. We we're excited to release another blog post on sustainable summer dressesand hope to write more eco friendly sewing tips so keep an eye out for those!
What's been happening in our classes
In our children and teens sewing classes we’ve had a lot of students show excellent progress in their abilities and above all have fun and create some amazing things! Our students have had a lot of fun creating cushion covers with some especially made as gifts to their grandparents. Some lovely chair bags have been made for the start of the school year and one student has cleverly made a pencil case and library bag to match.
We also have students working on creating some amazing skirts this week - shout out to Annika doing a beautiful job on her wrap around skirt that she copied from one she had at home and Georgie for making a very special gathered skirt with a bright lining to wear to Brisbane for her birthday. The most beautiful aprons are happening as well. Ella is making a black one with gold feather motifs on it and looks stunning with the gold ribbon and braid that she has used to decorate it with. In our disability class our main man has been stock piling the most gorgeous aprons which he and his mum will sell at a stall at the end of the year. We will let you know when so you can admire his beautiful work.
In the adults classes our lovely ladies have had a lot of fun creating some fantastic items! We're loving the Asymmetrical top that Janet is making. The trick to asymmetrical is to make sure you flip all the patterns before marking on the wrong side of the fabric so that the pieces end up the right way up when they are cut out. Keep up the great work Janet!
